Musical Theatre and Drama Classes
Musical Theatre for Kids
Musical Theatre for Kids is a fun and casual one-hour class for kids aged 6-10 years and it is great for beginners. We explore and develop performance skills through games, improvisation and scene study. Healthy singing habits and basic choreography are also included. Children learn modern Broadway songs and work to put together an end of semester performance for family and friends. All skill levels are welcome. Express yourself and have fun!

Musical Theatre Intensive Program
In the Musical Theatre Intensive class, students work 2-hours per week on Wednesday evenings to put together a 1-hour musical. For our 2018 Winter/Spring semester we will be rehearsing for a Musical Theatre Cabaret. All performances give each student a chance to shine in their role! Each week we focus on all three aspects of a play: singing, acting and dancing. There are no special requirements to enter the program, however we do ask each student to complete a placement audition for casting purposes, and students are expected to review their parts and choreography between rehearsals. As we near the show date, there will be extra rehearsals. The extra rehearsal schedule is given at the placement audition. The semester culminates with class performances for the public.
Placement auditions for our 2018 Fall semester will be held at the studio at the end of June. Dates TBA. Please contact the studio to book an audition. Placement auditions are for casting purposes only and do not determine admittance into the class. We accept all levels of experience, but we ask that all students audition for the class. Students should prepare 1 song of their choice to be sung a cappella or with a track. Students will also be asked to read a short monologue aloud.
Class times: Wednesday 6:30 – 8:30 pm

Acting Basics for Adults
Acting for Adults is an 8 week course that offers you the preliminary steps toward fully motivated action on stage. Each two hour class is designed to acquaint actors with the skills necessary to prepare for auditions (live theatre, not television or film) and prepare a role once you’ve been cast. Each class will include exercises to engage the mind, voice and body prior to the weekly work of monologue preparation and text evaluation. Depending on the level of experience in the class there may be an element of scene study if participants so desire. All participants are encouraged to do some homework in order to present their work for evaluation; actors can do this weekly or every other week as desired. Consistent attendance is expected.
